This is the first photograph in our project. We got access to the third floor of the Regions Bank in downtown Nacogdoches to photograph this view that was originally taken in 1882.
We first thought it would be a morning photograph since the row of buildings to the right faces south and we are looking west. But in June the buildings do not get sun until after 1PM.
The historical view was probably in early spring and the sun would be at a different angle. We also noticed that main Street ( on the right side of the photograph) runs a little northwest at this point so the afternoon sun illuminates the buildings.
